but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."   Abe Lincoln

Wednesday, May 30 - The OASD STAFF will hold a cake and coffee social to mark the retirement of Dana B and Jim W on WEDNESDAY May 30 (3:45 pm) in the school library.  All past retirees are welcome to attend and show them the way.

May 10, 2012 - The TEACHING STAFF would like to extend a very large THANK YOU to the JH and SH STUDENT COUNCILS for their TEACHER WEEK OBSERVANCE. The lunch was terrific and we appreciate the effort you and your advisor K. Menigoz put in on the posters, invitations, and decorations.  It is our honor to serve the students of the Ontonagon Area Schools and we thank you for your kind words and deeds.

WHAT MAKES A DYNASTY?  CONGRATULATIONS to the DIAMOND MATCH DEVILS (Dillan Thompson, Shane Ollila, Logan Graff, and Tommy Croteau) for taking FIRST PLACE in the HISTORY SMACKDOWN held at the Calumet Theater on Thursday April 26, 2012!  Also congratulations to PARKER'S PIRATES (Kirstie Kioski, Robbie Burrows, Alex Dix and Dan Domitrovich) for a third place finish and the OLD VICTORIA LOGGERS (Chloe Ashley, Bobbie Ross, Darien Steiner and Brook Turin) for a fine showing!  Congratulations - watch the Ontonagon Herald and other local media for the full story!  Not to be forgotten are the efforts of team coaches Bruce Johanson, Dick Frantti and Tom LeGault.

RECYCLE RUMBLE UPDATE:

A while back, WOAS-FM announced that it is taking part in a promotion with the Funding Factory recycle program called the RECYCLE RUMBLE.   We are competing head to head with the Butts Road Primary school in Virginia.  As of today, we are leading the challenge 63 units shipped to 0!  We made one slight typo in our first announcement stating that the challenge runs until March 31 - but in truth, it goes until May 31!   Keep the units coming, we are off to a good start but we still have two months to add to our total!  Thank you in advance for your continued support of WOAS-FM and the Ontonagon Schools through your Funding Factory donations of inkjet cartrigdges, laserjet cartridges and cell phones.  You can contact us at 884-4433 Ext 109 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The photo above was taken on April 19, 2012 - it shows what remains of the pulp mill.  While not the most depressing thing we have seen in Ontonagon over the years, it rates right up there.  We will NOT hang our heads, however - we still have a lot to look forward to - Step Up, Ontonagon - the future will be brighter than it seems at the moment!
